Shari acquired her first golden in 1988, Gold Sun's Go For Broke (Sophie), at two years of age after she had a litter. By her third birthday Sophie had acquired her CD and CDX with Two Dog World Awards and five High in Trials.
She was a remarkable dog and Shari was hooked. From that point forward Golden Retrievers would share her life!
Since then Shari has gone on to get over 100 titles on a variety of breeds and has had the top 10 obedience dog
of its breed on several occasions. As an Occupational Therapist, Shari combined her love for training dogs with her profession and began using dogs in Animal Assisted Therapy in 1984. She has authored a book on the subject
and now lectures around the country. Therapet Foundation was formed in 1994 and in 1995 she was named the National Leader in Animal Assisted Therapy in Town and Country Magazine. One of her Golden Retrievers, Aida,
was inducted into the Texas Animal Hall of Fame for her work with severely injured patients in 2008. Many of Shari's dogs are active in therapy work and travel with her to lectures on the subject.
Kevin grew up with various breeds of dogs as family pets. He was "dog-less" through medical school, residency and until the last year of his nephrology fellowship. He fell in love with Bernese Mountain Dogs and obtained
his first Berner, Rev, in 1991. Rev also became his first therapy dog and obedience competitor, and was the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of American's Top Novice A Dog in 1994. He now has his third Berner, CH Nashem's American
Dream, "Gatsby", who is his most titled dog.
Kevin served as Chairman of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America Health Committee for 10 years and has been a member of the AKC Canine Health Foundation Grants
Review Committee for the last 5 years. He served as the Medical Director of the Therapet Foundation for over a decade. Kevin has placed over 35 titles on his dogs since 1994 in conformation, obedience, rally and drafting. He has two
HIT's on his Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Ruby, a Versatility Title on Gatsby, and several dogs nationally ranked in their breed in obedience. Kevin speaks on Animal Assisted Therapy around the country and on Zoonosis and Infection Control
at State and National healthcare meetings.
Our daughter, Haley is active in Junior Showmanship and performance events as well. She is currently working on qualifying for Westminster in 2014 and will be showing at many shows this year including the Cardigan Welsh Corgi National,
the Bernese Mountain Dog National and the Golden Retriever National.
Our philosophy is to produce well rounded puppies with outstanding temperaments that are welcome members of your family. We strive to produce structurally
correct dogs that can excel at whatever their new families would like them to do. All of our dogs must pass health clearances before breeding, and their pedigree and clearances are provided to all prospective puppy owners. All golden
retriever's clearances are available at www.k9data.com.
We have shared life with some wonderful pets, 4-legged friends and companions in our dogs. Visit our In Memory
page and share those memories with us.
